78 Big Ten adventure
« on: March 09, 2020, 01:33:25 PM »
Found me a original paint and original interior 78 big ten in Albuquerque NM last week. Bought 3 one way flight's for me an my boys and took off to go grab it. Truck had a crate engine from ATK installed late Thursday 3/5, owner picked it up Friday and drove it a bit. Woke up at 4:00 am Saturday and flew into Albuquerque. Owner met us at the airport, made deal, went to Advanced Auto and picked up an order i had placed for misc parts and fluids. Was worried about the engine only having about 80 miles on it. So I varied speed between 55-75 until I got to Lubbock TX. In Lubbock i got an oil change and had them inspect everything under the truck.
After grabbing something to eat we took again. Got home at 3:30 am after almost 900 trouble free miles.
AC works
All gauges work
Interior dome light works (was surprised it worked) LOL
Trans rebuilt less than 300 miles ago along with the rear diff. well plus the 900 mile trip
On to the pics

When I was a little boy, my maternal Grandfather used to tell me about a trip he took in a covered wagon (from the Rio Grande Valley to South Central Texas), with his Father, when he was a little boy.  Just think man, your Boys will be telling their Grandchildren about your trip, years after you and I are long gone.  What a memorable way to spend some quality time with your Boys.

Some of the best memories of my life are those made with my Dad (RIP).  I'm sure this is something your Boys will never forget.  Awesome.

Also, nice find.  :)
I spent most of my money on Jack Daniel's, Copenhagen, pocket knives, and 4X4 trucks.  The rest I just wasted.
