The new SLUF.
« on: March 18, 2008, 07:31:41 AM »
The wife and I just bought a house, and seeing as we couldn't carry anything larger than a bread box in my Acura or her Civic, I scammed convinced her that we needed a truck.  At the same time, I found a great deal on this truck.

It's a 84.  All the rust you see is just surface rust.  The cab corners, floor, rockers and bed are still solid.

And just to confuse you, here's the air cleaner that came with it.

Awesome, just take that frisbee or garbage can lid off of there and give that puppy a paint job and you've got a heck of a truck!

Great GMC you got there! A new paint job, air cleaner lid and she'd look great!

Good thing you posted pictures cause I'm getting the same grille and bezzels and I wanted to know what my truck would look like with them on.
My truck is my flying fortress, the road is my sky, and Toyota's are the enemy bunkers that need a busting.

I'm in Austin TX, but I do know where Hooks is.  I was born in New Boston and my Mom was a teacher at Hooks many moons ago.  As for the history, I don't have a lot of info.  I do know it was a part delivery truck for Firestone here in town for several years.  I picked it up from a friend of a friend.

Good luck and welcome. Hey, there's one across the street, too.

Yeah, I haven't gotten a chance to meet the neighbors with the white short wide yet.  But from what I've seen, it seems to be in really good shape.  Although , I haven't seen it move once.

Looks good and solid. A quickie paint job would do the trick for sure. Just tell your wife the neighbors are complaining about your truck devaluing their properties!!!!! Think she will buy that?
I bet you will find you have a Fawd air cleaner on there because that Holley is a factory installed one from a Fawd. I might be wrong but its got the adapter base under it. The throttle cable is hooked kinda funky?
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
