Yes, two 1/8" holes ensures everything goes back together as properly fit before paint. Little shot of clear silicone in the holes when done and it saves hours of wasting time.

These doors are a PITA to get right so anything to ease the assembly and reduce the bruises. nothing worse than messing up new paint! On that note, both doors installed today with all the guts, new vent windows seals, gaskets, handles, locks etc. Power windows rewired and upgraded. New door jamb boots too. Looking forward to getting the cab completely sealed up.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try when the time comes.

Ready for the new front and rear glass and a close up of the paint in the sun. Paint looks totally different in the shade, neat color but not what I would have done.  I'll save the color I wanted for my next build.

Is there a color code or name for the paint? Looks good but would like to do some research.

The paint code is EBB Monarch Orange which is a Nissan color. It only looks orangey in direct sunlight otherwise it looks copper.

The only help I had was lifting the bed off of the frame. I've learned to do body work and paint as a result of the lack of available talent out here. I've had nothing but bad luck with body guys and their quality of work. I don't particularly enjoy body work, it's messy and unhealthy but you know the old saying about if you want something done right. Body shops around here make their money from insurance jobs, they don't touch fabrication, rust repair, custom etc. and if they do you'd have to turn a blind eye to panel gaps, body lines, and the quality of work.

I agree on that!! I traveled far and wide to find someone to clean up and paint my 77. No one wanted to touch it. Back in the 70’s that’s all they did, bodywork and rust repair. They don’t call them body shops anymore, it’s all collision specialist these days. Insurance money. Oh yeah, what’s the tab on that guys truck, ballpark?

Yep, Collision Repair is no longer autobody. Nobody wants to touch corrosion and custom work. Can't say I blame them though, they know better. Gotta learn to do things yourself.
