I think she's going to auction
« on: September 27, 2022, 11:50:32 PM »
Well, I think the time has come to let this Ginny go.

Cleaned her up, submitted to BaT.

Any thoughts on a reserve price?

Thanks in advance!!!

Looks like an easy sell but will you regret it?

Yeah VZ, I will miss her. Happily I'm still working on the '80 C10.

Any idea on a reserve?

They are really ticking up.

I'm pitching this one as a "bone stock survivor".

Beautiful truck!

I was checking into Hagerty insurance for mine.  They treated a friend right after an idiot totaled his classic FJ. I didn’t know what to put down for value, decided I’d make the list of what I got into it.  Cry a little. So I did a little searching for how much to replace.  I think it depends on how much you’ve done mechanically.  If somebody gets underneath, what will they see?  Rust? Perfection?

The old timers in the vintage chevy club (used to have a ‘32) really keyed off numbers matching motor and transmission, but I don’t see anybody really caring about that except for show quality vehicles.  My numbers matching ‘67 Camaro with six cylinder is worth $10.000 less than a restomod LS swap.  (Kinda wish I’d bought one of those ;-))

Anyways the guy says these trucks usually go in the 40’s.  But yours looks much nicer. Depending on the mechanical, I’d guess $40 minimum.

I think my insurance broker put her down for 35K with Hagerty.

Not sure about matching numbers, the motor is a crate Mr. Goodwrench 350. Trans and xfer case are original.

I changed out the rear diff for a taller one for freeway speeds. Still have the original pumpkin.

I've been through the axle bearings, u-joints, 2 piece drive shaft, just as a course of maintenance.

Don't know why I'm blathering on about this, but thanks for your support!!!

So I got the standard form letter that my truck did not make the cut. No reasons.

I replied asking for 'guidance' on what might change the equation. Will keep you posted.

These guys became suspect when I tried to auction a legit, award winning '67 Beetle. They said they could not go above 10K as a reserve. She sold for north of 16K.

Keep in mind that if you agree, you would have to sell her for 10,000.50 if that's where it ended.

My gut tells me they look for opportunities to snag nuggets for themselves and friends.

List it on eBay. The worlds biggest auction is right in front of you.

If anybody sells any vehicle on ebay I'll call them d*mn lucky. People can come in there and screw up your auction with zero consequences. Brand new people with no ratings. I tried 3 times and all three times I regretted it. Never again. Oh did I mention you pay a $40 auction fee regardless of whether or not anyone pays you? Ebay is trash for selling vehicles, I just want to warn everyone. They could limit it to only legit bidders who have a good reputation. Or require a $100 non-refundable deposit. You get it back if you lose. Anything would help, but no.
