Title: Oil sensor extension pipe
Post by: bigblockchevelleman on April 11, 2021, 07:18:55 PM
Currently installing the engine back in the Truck . The problem is that after the extension tube is installed I'm  not able to get the sensor in because it's up against the block almost like if the tube was a 1/4 -1/2 longer it would be ok or if maybe the tube threads were straight or different angle and help or idea's  Thank you  Steve

The sensor is right above the oil filter not the one behind the intake manifold because it's a 1987 r10 350 and there's one there I think for the fuel pumps to know there's oil pressure

If you put a different manifold on, then you may need a bushing. Go to the hardware store and get an assortment of bushings and adapters. Get some pipe thread sealant as well.

Thought about that but the size of the inside is small  afraid if it's larger might cause a worse leak

Maybe you don’t have the extension orientation right. I just looked at my 87 and the sensor is angled slightly back towards the transmission from the straight up position. And yes it is very close to the block but it does fit.
