HEI question
« on: November 28, 2005, 10:00:00 AM »
i was talking to a guy at work and he got me to thinking about getting a vacuum advance dist. instead of my HEI i have.  i'm no buff in distributors so here it is....current dist. is out of '84 z-28 305 (l69)  it has 4 wires in one connector and 3 wires out of another connector.  (1 may be for my aftermarket tach i installed years ago)  what do you guys think about my setup or which way is best.  thanks.

The '84 Z28 distributor should still have vacuum advance, so I am not really sure what you are asking.

i don't have an actual vacuum diaphragm thing ON the dist.  but i did notice that 2 of the wires that go under the dist. cap are conneted (on the firewall) to a plastic thing that has a hose hooked up to it.  from there i'm not sure where it goes.  so does that make my hei a vac. advance.  noted that the truck came equipped with the 292 v6 ('86).  thanks.

I think you need a non computer interface HEI out of a pickup.
