??? Dont know where to put this.
I ordered a new MSD Cap, Plug Wires, and a Blaster 2 coil with the resistor for the points. I have the pentronics points conversion installed. I cant get it to run with the MSD Coil on it. It will fire and then die, unless I WOT it, then it will start and run fine.
I have tried it with and without the resistor and it does the same thing. If I swap the old coil back on it starts up perfectly!
Help Anyone???
Heres my Parts on My Ingtion:

Im a little lost here. You have the Petronics ignition installed and the coil is for points??? I thought the Petronics got rid of the points. Somethings doesnt sound right. ??? Sounds like the wrong coil.
-
The coil is for either or to my knowledge. Thats why you have to buy the optional resistor. Ive tried it both ways with the same results.
-
Ok, I see it now. I think you may have a faulty coil,(even though its new, it is possible) since you can put the old one on and it runs fine.
-
How do you have the coil wired up? Either explain in detail, draw a schematic or take a picture. If you aren't using points you should be able to run the coil without the resistor. You should have B+ key on and during cranking at the coil. The negative side of the coil should be wired to your trigger device.

It's hooked up to the with the factory wires, just like the old coil. I'll try unhooking my tach but I don't think that's causing it.
How do you ohm these coils?

I have had problems with the MSD coils before. Take it back for a new one.

Primary resistance Ω across the + and -. Secondary Ω from either side of the coil to the center high terminal. Check resistance Ω to either terminal to the case.

Primairy I get .800ohms
Secondaty I get 5.05ohms
Specs are
.700ohms
4.7ohms
