i dont mean to jump on the thread or anything just curious... what would the the torque difference between a normal chevy head vs vortec heads? are they really worth the 800+ dollars for the intake and heads?

From some of the research I have been doing. They are a 40+hp bump over swirl port TBI heads. It's the combustion chamber design. I would say you could possible see atleast 40-60 ft lbs as well. Bolt on power.

Now with a proper cam and stockish compression there are guy 390fwhp and 400+ft torque. Those are higher revving motors with huge lift cams.

A good 4x4 cam on a 350 about 9.5:1 could easily see 260+ WHP and over 350ft lbs

I'm doing about that with stock 76cc heads.  Completely stock engine, actually, but for Comp 12-300-4, Edelbrock 1406, air-gap dual-plane manifold, and long-tube headers.

I'll do you better than that.  I just borrowed an integrating accelerometer.  Gives 1/4 mile time and speed and max whp.

I just have to find a flat quarter mile somewhere....
