350 build with vortec heads

My truck is an 85 K10 long bed with 35" tires and 6" lift. It has the GM 350/290 that I'm building the top end of. Wanted to ask if anyone sees any holes in my plans as far as compatibility goes.

-Stock 350/290 bottom end
-Scoggin-Dickey 185cc modified vortec heads w/ 70lb Z28 springs (capable of .525 lift)
-Edelbrock performer RPM heads
-Holly 750 cfm
-Looking at a custom grind hyd. flat tappet cam something like .210/.218 dur.,  .470/.490 lift
(Still contemplating 1.6:1 rockers with less cam lift to achieve the above lift)
-TH350 with stock converter
-4.10 or 4.56 gear

My goal is strong low end torque with power band good to 5000-5200 rpm
Anybody have a similar set up or advice?

Make sure the intake you get will fit vortec heads, vortec heads have vertical bolt holes and the usual non vortec head has angled intake bolt holes.

Edelbrock pn: 7116 / 71163 / 71164

You may already be aware of that, but no harm in throwing that out there.

I'll second Cipher's comment on the intake, but outside of that I'd say your putting together a well matched beast.

You will have to rejet a 750 a 600 or 650 will be much better on a 350

The only problem I can see is that you're not building it in my garage and leaving it here.

On further consideration, the Vortec heads have higher static compression than stock heads and can take a little more duration without bottom-end torque going in the toilet.  So use the longer-duration 12-238-2 Comp cam rather than the 12-235-2.  If you were sticking with 76cc chambers, then the 12-235-2 would be the better choice.

You might also look at the Dart 127322 heads.  8-1/2% bigger intake and 13-1/2% bigger exhaust valves than Vortec heads, which makes a huge difference.  In that setup, with the 12-238-2 cam, you'll get 360 hp at 5000, 425 lbft at 2500, and it'll wind to 6000 rpm.
