Title: Connector Identification
Post by: Ronno6 on April 24, 2019, 08:40:07 AM
This connector is part of the ESC harness, at least it is in the same harness with the 4 prong ESC distributor connector and the knock sensor connector. However, I do not know where it was connected.
Anybody familiar with it??
I already have a red or pink wire for the 12+ to the coil...

dont know for sure but it should go it to the 12v spot on the right for the coil and the 12v wire you have in place should piggyback into that. i would wait till someone else chimes in but thats how it looks like it should work

It does give that impression, but was not connected there when I removed the engine.(As far as I remember, anyway...)
I have not found it on any wiring diagram, only the pink wire to the 12v +.

Possibly might be  the part of a relay system?
I know my 88 Suburban has a open pigtail like that for the fuel pump relay for testing a direct current to the pump.
Though it is a single connection only, not doubled up like yours. Just throwing it out there.

As it is part of the ECG harness, along with knock sensor and plug for the tranny "tip in" vacuum switch  ,
I am willing to bet that it will no longer be required.........

check your 12+ wire to the distributor and tell me if it has that rib on the outside of it, that would look like it fits directly in the grove thats been cut out of that pigtail

Yes,it does.
It fits perfectly in the slot on this connector, but into the distributor cap as well.
I cannot think of a reason for the pink 12v wire to connect there, however.
I have not been able to see it on any schematic.....

It connects directly to the BAT terminal of the HEI distributor and routes power to the ESC module behind the dash.  The orange end section of the wire (about 6" long) is a fusible link.  The pink 12-volt ignition feed wire that normally connects directly to the distributor plugs into the offset adapter, instead.
