Title: Transfer case noise
Post by: jcondo on October 29, 2018, 11:04:14 PM
Would the np203 transfer case in my 77 k10 make unusual noise if the truck is on jack stands and I was testing the speedometer? Everything seems to be working fine, just a grindy noise when I get past 20mph. My thought was cuz the tires are all of the ground it’s spinning without any tension in the chain.

did you have it in loc? if not its going to act like open differential, that might make some noise. but then again ive never ran a vehicle on jack stands.

No it was in high. I was just testing the speedometer gear and cable. Which both seem to be working so that’s a plus.
I’m waiting on some exhaust parts before I take it off the stands.
Thanks for the reply tho Irish. It might be a while but I’ll let ya know what it I find out once I do drop it back down.
