Title: Will an MTC-1 cam work well in my 305 engine?
Post by: 1976Scottsdale on September 24, 2007, 12:57:10 PM
Hey, I ran into a little problem with my 305.  It has a 270 series cam in it now and I cannot get it to stop running into gas knock issues.  I am removing the cam to go to a smaller one since I blew up the 4 speed and have to run my TH400, which does not like the 1200 RPM idle.  Will the melling MTC-1 cam work better, it has 420/443 lift, 204/214 duration @.50, and 112 lobe sep.  I know it runs well in 350's, but how about a 305?

I just put one of those in a 305 I just finished building. It's going in the truck now and should be running by Thursday. It will work fine in your 305. If you want to hear the idle quality I will take a vid once I get it running.
