1985 GMC Suburban rear tail gate window
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:41:18 PM »
Please,  a little help. I replaced the track roller and pins for the tailgate window. I also replaced the rubber sheet that goes in the channel that the window slides into on the bottom. The problem is when I role down the window the window comes out of the track and hangs up in the weather stripping. Should the window be glued in the track or ??? How does the window stay tight in the channel?  Thanks Steve

Found out there is special glue for window to channe,  now the question do I still use the rubber sheeting I bought at   Or just glue the glass the the metal channel?

The glass is sandwich in the channel around a rubber sleeve.

Yep, I'd glue it into the rubber channel, then glue the channel to the metal. No metal touching the glass would be my way of thinking.
There are two tools needed, duct tape and WD40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD 40.

Thanks for the replies! I had already glued without the rubber. I used primer with urethane. The glass shop told me to not use the rubber and put primer on both side of the glass and in the sash then gob the urethane (black gunk glue) in the sash then shove the glass in close the window and don't touch it for 3 days!!
