Brushed aluminum instrumental cluster
« on: January 23, 2004, 04:34:00 PM »
Hello everyone,
I'm new here,so this is going to be my first time posting.
I own a 1987 gmc sierra classic stepside pickup,& have been working on it every now & then.I changed the Brushed aluminum instrumental cluster several years ago,& was wondering if anyone knew of a way to shine or clean it.It's so sensitive & delicate I'm affraid I might screw up & get it scratched. Is there a certain something I could use to polish it??

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

Thank you.

Try using a fine hand glaze (used for final polishing on exterior paint). If you use it with a nice soft cloth, (old sweatshirt), it should come out pretty nice. A million different types of glazing compound and most parts stores have some selection. A second choice would be a fine plastic polish for clear plastics, lexan and the like. Make sure to use a fine compound (not very abrasive). And third toothpaste. Toothpaste is made to be a soft abrasive with built in cleaners. Believe it or not it polishes more than just your teeth. Good luck, James
