I like my Garmin but prefer my older Tom Tom.  I always read the reviews and check consumer reports and have never been steered wrong.

Been doin a lot of reading into it...Actully, I'm leaning toward the TOM TOM. Seems to have more then I need, and the price is right.

i've mostly used Magellan and with good results, so i'm biased towards them.

But to me it seems most any GPS is good.

Nothing beats Google Maps on your phone. It corrects and warns you of traffic, tons of great features.

Like any map service there are errors, Garmin and Google have yet to fix two roads in my town that are dead ends, they say are through roads and on a number of directions, always get 1 or 2 travelers a month in the summer asking where to go, GPS said take that road.

I agree except when there is no phone service which I experience often in my travels.

i use my phone and if coverage might be limited then ill download the map at home. it will use less data and will give you real life updates due to google tracking anyone who uses their apps. they can see if a number of people are standing still or if traffic is flowing nicely.

You can submit errors and they will confirm/fix. You can also submit photos etc
