On my 84 it did.  My carpet kit covered the entire floor under the seat and behind on that ledge

and classic parts sale sound deafening mats that go under the black mat or carpet. if its a daily driver i would stick wit the mat. i have two trucks one is for show a 1979 gmc high sierra factory air 4wd with carpet im restoring it now. It gets 9 miles to gallon lol so it will be my show truck. My daily driver is a 1986 custom deluxe 4.3 liter it gets 14 miles to the gallon not bad considering it dont have overdrive (yet) lol . so im fixing it to drive daily. It has a black mat and i love it so easy to clean and maintain.

This is what I did to make my cab no sound like my engine compartment in my 74 because it is LOUD.

I used dampifier on both the underside and topside of the cab floor. I then used fat mat and the jewt and then carpet. It may be overkill for a normal machine but what a difference.

The instructions say to glue the jute and the fabric sound mat to the floor

Don't

If you ever get any water in the floor you gotta rip it up

If you just lay it in , then you can just lift it up and set a small blower under the carpet and jute to dry it out

We used carpet since it was the same price as the rubber and we have a slightly modified Trans tunnel .
Wasn't sure the rubber would lay down right
