I have an 84 GMC Sierra. The brake switch stops working randomly so I took it apart and cleaned it out. I found either some old grease or a lot of buildup and that may have been the problem. I cleaned the contacts and tightened the little tabs that make contact to set the brake light on when the spring releases once the pedal is pushed. It works now, but is it supposed to be greased or not? I just cleaned it and put it back together after tightening the contacts and cleaning and so far so good...I was just wondering if I should grease the actual spring loaded plastic shaft where it is wider (thats the part that separates the contacts to keep the light off. Hopefully I did not confuse anyone! I dont want it going bad again in the daylight when I cannot see it reflect on the street. Cops around here dont like the truck as it is! Thanks a lot.
