No crank confused
« on: February 15, 2016, 05:38:38 PM »
Last week my truck decided to stop cranking over. I tested everything, determined the problem lay with the neutral safety switch so I replaced it. I also replaced the ignition switch while I had the column down. Truck still wouldn't crank over, found the plug that connects the purple wires to the neutral safety switch was bad. Bypassed the NSS for the time being, just connected the two purple wires together using a butt connector. Everything works fine. Go to leave for work this morning, not cranking over. So now, if I hold the column shifter all the way up in park, then push forward the truck will start, but it will not crank over in any other position? With the switch bypassed, shouldn't it crank in any gear? The column shift shouldn't matter now right? And I do plan on hooking the NSS back up when I figure out what the problem is. Thanks for any help.
