I have a '86 c20 that is coming along ok. At the beginning of my project, the truck that had sat for almost 30 years, had 2 AIR system pumps and both exhaust manifolds had large stainless steel pipes coming off and into the AIR system. Due to numerous reasons, the main being that all the hoses and plastic bits were destroyed, I deleted this smog system and capped the stuff not needed. I plugged the manifold holes with bolts that ALMOST fit and jb weld with the thought of getting legit exhaust manifolds later. Now is the time. I'm searching the used market and find ther are no shortages of manifolds in all conditions. How do I make sure I'm getting the right thing? Match the 350 8 cylinder part. Year? Do i need to look at block number for any reason? I looked at new manifolds and it looks like a $300 price ball-park. Facespaces and such show like $50 for a pair of them. I like the smaller number. Thanks for your input! October 22, 2024, 12:39:34 AM by Irish_Alley
Views: 1776 | Comments: 15 Hello old friends as some of you know i went through a hard spell a couple years ago with work, but i was doing "OK". long story short in march of this year i was in a very bad vehicle accident where the other guy crossed the double yellow and we ended on hitting head on. my 2010 chevy was totaled but she gave her life for me, i ended up with a broken femur, 6 broken ribs and a broken sternum. the other driver sadly didnt make it. anyway we been getting around in my wifes 94 single cab chevy truck and ive been looking for another vehicle and this is why im back lol. i still have most of my squares but im in no shape to fight/fix them. anyway i just got a 2003 chevy 2500hd crew with 6.0 4l80e and it sometimes has a "no start" issue. it will crank over fine and start for only a second then dies, you have to unhook the battery for 45 minutes or so and it will start up. it also has a charging system issue and air bag light but im not sure if theyre connected. he also replaced the BCM and it did not fix the issue. ive heard of the 90s trucks having a VATS issue that sounds similar but im not sure and wanted to poke some minds on here for their opinions October 20, 2024, 05:49:38 PM by JohnnyPopper
Views: 583 | Comments: 3 When I first bought this K10, the tilt wheel was loose. I just lived with it until the starter linkage broke. This is a weird little link that has a curved body that allows for the ignition tumbler to pull the switch in various positions of steering wheel use. Of course it broke when I was in a parking mall garage. I found one at NAPA because I somehow found the Dorman number. Be me, older, only thinking of the word clevis, and I think its wrong... Any help would be greatly appreciated, right now, "she's dead Jim"! October 20, 2024, 02:50:18 AM by roger97338 | Views: 671 | Comments: 1
I'm replacing the aftermarket style tail light lenses and housings. I no longer have the original screws. Does anybody know what size the four screws that hold the housing to the body, and the four that hold the lens to the housing? I asked Google and it told me where to buy some replacements, but no sizes. Then the forums where someone knew tail light screw sizes, weren't for the square body pickups. And if the sizes are in the FSM, I couldn't find where they were listed. 1975 C-10 Fleetside longbed. October 14, 2024, 05:04:52 PM by devildogmech | Views: 1839 | Comments: 12
Hey all, So I've got a 79 C-10 Big 10. Had the Steering column rebuilt, cleaned and painted the box, shaft and installed a new rag joint.... I've got everything installed except for the column. The column is too "proud" and sticks out about 3/4 too far to mount to the dash..... I installed the box first..... Installed the rag joint and shaft..... Made sure the rag joint was all the way down and seated in the box..... Mated the column to the shaft, slid together easy. Bolt holes are lined up....... And the column wont mount up...... Ideas? https://youtu.be/yMt9epXFEso?si=ka00vcMAEcy3ZzrI Pages: [1]
