Which motor swap are you talking about?
Most likely it will be 2 bolt, for a street vehicle, that is plenty strong.
Any Heads will work on the TBI motor, Vortecs will pick you up a good 50hp over the stockers.  The only Downside it you MUST get a Vortec intake.  Not a big deal though.  GMPP makes a Vortec TBI Intake.
Are you willing to get some chips burnt or are you wanting to stay within stock operating parameter?

For a TBI crate, I would look at this one: http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=42937

upon researching via several forums- seems the TBI is somewhat limited on HP capability, so maybe the 383 idea won't work so well without substantial tbi mods. ideas on that?  i suppose i could always find a vortec motor- or buy a crate vortec motor, and put the vortec/tbi manifold on there, get a few tbi mods from CFM, and get a chip burned (from where i don't know).

ahh, the choices are endless- could rebuild my 350/add vortec heads/torque-y cam/prob require a chip too i suppose.......

You can realistically get 300hp out of one, heck 400 probably, but after that you are pushing your limit.
A 300hp 383 could be achieve with some good heads, intake and a chip.

Thanks Chris- that is some really good info on the 3rdgen site.  tryin to wrap my brain around all the ecm talk gave me a headache though!  that motor you linked is the caprice engine- any idea on hp/torque for it, i thought i had read they were pretty weak on the torque end.  kinda like the looks of this motor tho---

The stock LT4 has more lift and duration with a wider lobe seperation.
Truck ypu listed:  191@ .414/ 196@ .428 (1.5RR)--- 111 LSA
Stock LT4:          203@ .476/ 210@ .480 (1.6RR)--- 115 LSA

I didn't know about that motor, but that is isn't that bad with Vortec's...
