Title: Pro touring?
Post by: stepsidesquare on December 13, 2017, 03:56:01 PM
Does anyone happen to know a decent wheel that gives the pro touring look but won't break the bank? I'm about to go the coilover route and the boss 338s just aren't doing it(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171213/39560a126d2590b1c261bd96f84ecddd.jpg)

I don't think just a wheel will give you the pro-touring look on this truck. If it's a certain look you are after, your best bet is to find one you like and maybe plan your design around what piques your interest on what others have done. Ask 100 people, get 100 opinions of course but pro-touring look is not rat rod look.

Some things that may improve the look of your truck (again opinions) to get that style:

Sporty seats, looks like van seats in there. Shaded glass. Better door/fender alignment. Sport mirrors. Switch the blackouts for chrome unless you have a higher contrast paint. Sleeker paint job. The stance looks appropriate for what you are after

I like your truck how it is but I dig what your saying about the price of wheels. I would suggest just keep watching for a set of wheels you like.  I assume you’re looking for something with less weight?

Not everyone is down with pro touring obviously so don't let them get you down.  I think what you are trying to accomplish is great and I wish you great success.

Wheels are a purely design viewed item, you look up pro touring camaros, chevelles, mustangs, etc, they all have a low profile tire, but the rims vary greatly, some even use the same rim you have. M6 suggestion is to look up pics and choose a set of wheels based on that.

And with that said, there was a nice camaro set up as a pro touring car, used stock style rallye rims- looked like they were widened and made taller (18"?)
