Possibly. I'm not sure of the logic behind some getting them and some not other than some imbecile engineer deciding this will make the engine quieter although steel gears are quiet so I never really bought that explanation. Only way to tell is to open it up and if it's original 1977 it probably needs refreshing anyway.
