torque converter bolts
« on: September 25, 2017, 03:45:48 AM »
hey folks, trying to remove the torque converter from the flex-plate. This is an 85 TH350. My question is are these bolts reverse thread? I haven't been able to bust 'em loose yet.

Lefty loosey righty tighty

Put a little more effort into and they will loosen just make sure you are using a six point so you don't round them off.

I've always used a flywheel wrench to hold the flywheel, while I break them loose

Use a flywheel spanner (image) to hold the flexplate from turning while you loosen and subsequently tighten the converter bolts.

Ok, almost re-assembly time. Been researching the net for bolt torque specs. I think I have the numbers...... flexplate to crankshaft, 60-65 ft lbs. torque converter to flexplate, 35-45 ft lbs. and the transmission to the engine block, 25 ft lbs. Are these numbers ok?

Thanks bd, mucho better to have the exact #'s rather than ball-park figures. Oh yea, good eye on the pic. It is a 350c.
