Lowered C20
« on: May 22, 2017, 02:07:07 PM »
Alright I'm in the research phase of a father/son project on a 1984 C20.  We're wanting to lower it and run a 28"-30" tire. I really like the look of 8's and 10's on the C10's. However due to the axle width on a C20 it would take more like 6" to 6.5" backspace to tuck the rims, which isn't a big issue. I would have to switch to disc brakes due to the outside diameter of the 13" drums. After all that, then I have to find a shorter tire to fit a 16x10, which tire choices suck right now. My next thought is to convert to 6 lug and run 22" transit wheels where there is lots of tire choices. Not sure if I could get the stock 12" dog dishes on transits though, I haven't found that. Of course I can always just run the stock wheels or maybe 16x8's front and rear(which would still require a custom backspace). Anybody have any pictures of C20's with wide tires or experience with this? Also do the 10" wheels measure 11" on the outside edge, and how much tire bulge should I allow for?

Ok does anybody have some 16x10's with out the tires mounted and take a picture with a ruler? I need to see where the bump in the rim is located. Also is the smallest inside measurement about 13.5"?
