i have a 79 longbed 3/4 ton, and i have been looking for months on a lowering kit. i now realize that the only way to lower it is flip the axle with the leaf springs, and chop the front springs. no one sells drop spindles for 3/4 tons and no one sell flip kits. when you flip the leaf spring with the axle, you have to do it without mounts welded to the axle :(

Spindle wise, the 3/4 and 1/2 ton HD is the same (you can Call Belltech Corp to verify this as they should KNOW)  The difference is in the Heavier duty steering components.

As far as rear suspension, all the leaf springs have the same width and use the same brackets.  The spring is the only difference.  So a shackle/hanger kit will work on what you have.
If you don't plan on lowering the front over 3", just get some new springs.  1/2T will work on a 3/4T truck.  Why do you want to lower a 3/4T truck?  I assume it isn't used for heavy hauling anymore?

so, um, heres what i want to do, lower the front 4 inches, and the back 6. now i WAS gonna get a 1/2 ton rear suspension flip kit, but 1/2 ton axles are 3 inches, and my 3/4 ton has a 3.5 inch axle. therefore all 1/2 ton rear leaf spring mounts are no good.! :(
but you are saying i can use 1/2 ton lowering springs for the front because the front has the same suspension? its the steering componenents?. and for the back, i have not seen shackles that lower any lower than like 2 inches. well tell me, is there something horribly bad about flipping the axle with the leaf springs without mounts?. i am wondering.

I have a '79 C20 LWB that is lowered.  I got lowered (3") lower control arms for the front.  1.5" Lowered coils.
Rear has flip kit with "C notch". (all suspension stuff bought from AIM in AZ)  Truck looks and drives quite well.  I use it to haul my racebike.  The only problem that I have now is that it tachs at about 3700rpm at highway speed.  Due to the fact that the truck has 255-50VR-16 tires.  I need to change the gearing in the rear end.  I have a 14 bolt rear with full floating 8 lug axles.  I believe that the rear is either 4.10 or 4.56 gearing.  Does anyone know if I can change this to 3.08 or something like that.  Right now I burn lots of gas.

katskin750 i've a 84 crewcab with 3:73's. talked to my macanic buddy about gears and he said 3:73 were the highest you can get in a 14 bolt rear. if you got $2500 call gear vendors in calf. and get one of their overdrive units.
