Title: 10 bolt identification
Post by: chadbice on September 05, 2010, 05:04:44 AM
The front end on my 84 half ton silverado is a 10 bolt but there is no tags.  What is the best way to see if it is a dana or a corporate?

Spicer/Dana has a fill plug on cover & GM corporate has none.

10 bolts have a very round shaped cover. The fill plug in the cover will be a little bit off angle to the axle center line, kinda pointing toward the drivers front corner of the truck.
A Dana 44 the cover has vertical sides and rounded top and bottom cover. The fill plug has a embossed area in the cover so it points directly to the Front of the truck, 90 degrees to the axle centerline.
