Warn locking hub problem
« on: December 29, 2002, 02:36:00 PM »
My truck's recently eaten the 2nd Warn manual locking premium hub on the passenger side in 7 months.  Every time the little sleeve on the very rear that holds the center section in place disintegrates.  Does this indicate anything wrong, do all hubs just not last, or does Warn just make junk?

It sound to me like you have another problem.  Check your outer axles and u-joints. Also, be sure that when you go to "free" they are not hanging up.

I've been e-mailing back and forth w/ Warn for a couple days. Told them I tightened the wheel bearing. They said they'd send me a new hub. I'm trying to get them to replace all 3 so I have spares though.

Wow...I am totally impressed with Warn and you should be too!

Good day Kevin,

It's reassuring to know that the bearings were the problem, your hubs should
last a long time now.  I'll go ahead and send 2 hubs, you can keep any of
the old ones as spares, but hopefully you won't need them.

They are shipping on the 14th, sorry I could not get them out sooner.

Best regards,

My truck has had a set of cheapie Mile Marker hubs on it every since I have owned it.  I have never had any trouble with those, and I think Warn are better than what I have.  I only use 4WD about once a year though.  I have rebuilt the entire front end and repacked the front bearings and put a new O-ring kit in the hubs since I have had them.

Glad to see Warn has such good customer service.  I will probably get a set of Warn soon, just because the fake chrome is bubbling on this set I have now (I am picky), and Warn hubs are my top choice.
