where is it leaking, and do you have a shop manual to reference to?

Also is it a tie rod or a sway bar that is on the front, it looks like a tie rod but i have heard both, it does connect the two front tires together.

well you can tell whether or not its a tie rod or a sway bar.......a sway bar ties both wheels together to keep the trucks body from rolling in a corner, and a tir rod connects to the steering knuckle on either side so you are able to turn. you should invest in a chiltons or haynes shop manual so you can reference them for help. pop the drain plug off the transfer case and see what fluid runs out then you ll know.

im not a 4x4 expert so you may want to ask the 4 wheeler guys...........you really need a shop manual.

Yeah some kind of reference manuals are definitely in order here.

Chilton's makes the best aftermarket books.
Haynes manuals are okay once you know how to use them.
Most parts stores carry these two types.
Amazon.com has them as well.

Original Shop Manuals are the best but are usually quite expensive.

You want to run 80w-90 gear lube in a NP 205.
