Nice looking truck! My dad's 82 K20 was an 8600GVWR and it was a 4x4. Now granted it had a 350 VIN code M gas engine and a TH400 3 speed auto trans with the semi float 14 bolt rear end. It also had the 13 inch rear drums. Some of those options may not be as rare as you might think.
From what I heard, it was much more common for the C20's to get the 8600 GVWR, with the K20's getting a lower one usually due to the extra front axle weight.
The quad front shocks also come into play, is that part of the 8600 package, or another thing altogether?

Looks good. I like the way it looked without the CUCV bumper, but to each his own. Nice.

I got my first '86 K20 6.2L earlier this summer. Aside from a broken rear main leaf, I've only done minor maintenance to it. I'm trying to decide if I should just keep it as a work truck or fix it up to be more comfortable and more of a daily driver.

I'd fix it up, as long as it isn't in too bad of shape.
I bought my 6.2 for $500 because the trans had an issue.
Some tinkering, i got it road worthy. A bit more tinkering, now its a pretty nice daily driver and I'm slowly restoring it.

I have a few trucks that have the 6.2L.

Mostly gutless when pulling or pushing my 6klbs of steel up the highway but I have a few big blocks for power when it's really required.

The 6.2L equipped trucks do have one good reason for being and IMO that is the fact that the engine is EMP proof. Also having a few alternators and starters in a Faraday enclosure is more piece of mind.

That and having a manual transmission so if the starter won't turn over the engine, gravity will.

86 M1028A2
Bone stock Does well for a daily driver.

My 84 K30 bought new was a 6.2
However I bought a new Cummins 6BTA in
94 and swapped that in.

Thanks.
I got it out of a Army base in IA about 6 years ago.
The dually configuration is rare. Most all are single wheel as you
Probably know.
23xxx. miles on the clock.

Got rid of the camo and repainted with original base 383 OD green
Added cab lights (to meet DOT/IL 80" laws) and emblems for a more civy look.

Yea I love the dually! The solid OD green is nice, the brown looks great. 23xxx, that's sweet. Cab lights are nice too. I'm a little jelly.
