What Does the TH400/4L80E crossmember rubber do?
« on: May 28, 2017, 02:12:34 PM »
So I realized I don't have the rubber feet that was from the TH350 in the K5 and I don't have the TH400 rubber mount. I have the cross member already drilled and bolted into the V20 under the 4L80E. Does the rubber "base" or "spacer" serve any other purpose than to center the transmission and give a little flex? The reason I'm asking is because I cannot afford to order one, but I am fabbing up a solid rubber " spacer at work (sugar factory) that's the right height. Just not sure if it has to cope with rotational forces or if the motor mounts are supposed to deal with that.

FWIW. The TH350 I had in the V10 burb that we muddled and towed with for months the rubber was sheared off so the bolts weren't actually holding the rubber to the trans/tcase and it did fine for the 11 months we were driving it

you mean the transmission mount? yes you need one and you want it to be somewhat flexible or youll break the tail housing/adapter plate or bell housing
