Title: help with 85 c-10

i need help with a problem. i just put on a old( and supposedly rebuilt) holley 600 cfm. carb on my 305 eng. i finally fooled with it to get the right float level and everything else but now when i give it hard gas, i get this popping noise out of the exhaust. i got good vacumn( 19-20). does anyone have any ideas- sure could use the help-thanx >D

Sounds like you have it to rich. Does it do it when warmed up or not? You have to turn the set screws all the way in and turn the out until it has the highest idle.

i have the floats set to where the fuel just barely trickles out of the side holes and have the set screws out one turn . is that enough or too much? the timing was set when i had a quadra jet carb on before and it worked ok- just no power with that carb.
