Another mysterious wire question

any clue on this lone wire? Green wire with orange connection housing. Has male connector on the end. No extra females anywhere near it so this bachelor is a little lonely. Joins another group of wires that are wrapped up and Y off from the fire wall so idk if it goes out to the engine or up the dash. I found it just hanging next to my fuse block.

     First off answer a couple of questions.
     1:  Does all your turn signals, flashers, back up lights, lights in general work ?
     2:  Is there anything on your truck that you know of is not working ?
     In the wiring diagrams for your truck there are a few either light green or dark green solid color wires that show up.  Most of then have to do with light functions, hence the questions about weather all you lights work.
     It does look factory, so more information about your truck would help narrow down the possibilities.

My truck has the same wire just hanging under the dash.i also wonderwhere it goes.

Test it with a test light.  If it lights up when the parking lights and headlights are on I bet it is for the outside cab clearance lights on many 1 tons... My $.02

All lights are working properly. I could see it being clearance lights. Ill have to test it

ok....tested this wire for the following and got nothing:
Headlights, high beams, dome light, brake lights, turn signals, hazard lights, reverse lights.

No power is going thru this wire with ignition off or on....didn't test it with engine running but didn't think it would make a difference.

any other ideas?

     I am assuming that you had one lead hooked to this wire and the other lead on a negative source and you got no voltage when checking any of the lights.
     There is another possibility, that it is suppose to supple power to something.  Have you looked up under your dash in that general area to see if it might have gone somewhere ?
     Another idea, you do not see holes in that area where someone had a trailer brake system hooked up before ?

there are holes on the bottom of the dash all over the place. I tested it with a test light. Wire clipped to ground and applying the needle to the connector. I did some searching and really can't find a similar female connection. I'm pleased to see someone else has this same wire.

Yeah I looked all over the fuse box etc... No dice.i just left it hanging. I'll run some test tomorrow

Ive traced the wire and it is the ground for the lock up convertor in my truck. I spent time tracing wires because of  Another problem and this wire leads to the vac module for the Trans.
