Dome lights and under dash light

OK we have a weird problem with the dome lights... Under dash light works but dome does not. Disconnected dome light at connector by seat and have power on "white" wire if right door is open or if headlight switch is rotated. Close door or turn off switch no power on white wire or orange wire. Where orange wire plugs into fuse box has no power... Why would I have power on white wire at all. If I take bulb out of under dash light I have power to the orange wire at the socket...

might be the door switches are rusted.  grab the button part with some pliers and while gently pulling, rotate it back and forth to rub the rust off it.  this is common on my every truck ive had every 3 or 4 months the switches rust up.


when the switch is out, it makes contact.  those surfaces are probably corroded, so pluuing gently while rotating it will rub the corrosion off them.
