6.5 diesel. Cracked head. How to repair?
« on: March 08, 2016, 01:49:09 AM »
Hi!
I'm from Russia, Moscow. Sorry for my English.
I have a 6.2 Suburban diesel and 6.5 Suburban turbodiesel. Sometimes I help my friends repair their diesel engines. Recently I saw this video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3GJasoKLz8
Somebody could tell me of this repair and the size of the pipe?

video comment says 10mm pipe brass pipe. pipe plug is likely 12mm, to fit a 10mm pipe past.

to do this properly you actually need to drill slightly less(like a .005 inch less) to make a press fit, and even then I am not sure how well that would work with heat expansion and all.

either way if you do do it, please keep us informed.

I remember reading about using bronze valve guides for this.

That is such a good head work. Isn't it?
In Russia, no such repairs do not. Then a few questions.
Where to drill?
Maybe has someone the right template?
What is the size of the holes?
What is the size of the tube?
What is the material of the tube?

On a side note, would you mind telling us a little bit about yourself. I don't think we have any members from Russia.
