I have a 1974 C10 stepside.  After re-installing the power steering pump I discovered that it is leaking around the reservoir.  I am replacing the pump rather than a seal kit.  the difference is like 40 dollars which is money well spent if you factor in the risk of my work leaking again...  The pulley on the pump is a 2 slot pulley, one belt runs around the AC compressor.  My question..is it better to tighten the AC compressor first or the Power Steering pump first?  Thanks for any experience.

The primary drive belt for the P/S pump is the short crankshaft to P/S pump belt.  So, tension the P/S pump belt first followed by the A/C compressor pump belt.  Then recheck the P/S belt tension and readjust if necessary.

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!
