Hello, i currently have a 87 r1500 2wd with a 305tbi and th400 (wierd combo i know). I am wanting to swap it over to a nv4500 so i can get the overdrive, and who doesn't love to drive a stick. I have a donor truck that is a 99 gmc c2500 with the nv4500, and i can take any parts i want out of it before i send it to scrap. My questions are, which pedal assembly do i use? Should i get one for an 87 or use the set out of the 99 and make them work. Second which flywheel should i use? Buy a new one for the small block or use the one attached to the 454 in the 99. I am more worried about the pedal assembly issue more than the flywheel issue. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I already know about the floor hump issue and driveshaft, and i know how to get those done.

I'm thinking the trans from behind a 454 won't have the same bell housing bolt pattern as your 305??

Every sbc and bbc ive ever seen has the same 6 bolt pattern...

Clutch pedal assembly from 85-87, Hydraulic. Bell housing pattern for 5.0L is the same as 7.4L and lastly the flywheel for the 454 is externally balanced and with not work for the 305. Let us know how it turns out. I especially am curious as I want to do the same thing in my 85 with a TH400

Yeah i forgot about the balancing of the flywheel. I will be picking up the pedal assembly and hopefully doing the swap in the next month or so. Another question i have is do i need to get a standard trans column? Someone told me that the pedal assembly has a bracket that goes to the column on standards and does not have it on automatics.

Well it looks as if thr swap is not going to happen. I absolutely not find a set of clutch pedals for a 85 to 87 hydraulic clutch. My 99 has the clutch pedal by itself but i cant have to much down time on the truck to be fabricating a clutch pedal to work. If anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it. I looked on local craigslist and on ebay.

Keep searching junkyards for pedals. It's definitely worth it to swap. I used the clutch master from and 89 chevy V3500 and the slave from an 89 K3500 and made a steel brake line to connect them, my NV4500 was from a 94 and I have the right hand slave bell. Just use a flywheel for your 305 and just order a 12" clutch kit for a 80s truck with a 4 speed

So you used a new style clutch pedal. Can you send me a.picture of how you mounted it?

We couldn't find a hyd pedal either for a decent price
You can find em all day for $350 each
We Modified the old pedal
drill the large hole for the master
Then use the master to drill the bolt holes
Otherwise you will never get em in the right spot
We used threaded rod so we could move the master forward a little
Then you just line up the master rod with the old clutch pedal and drill a hole where you will get the proper distance of travel to bottom out the master and loosely bolt it to the pedal using a nylon lock nut
We did it like that as a temporary deal till we could find a hyd pedal. But it's worked fine for a daily driver for months

Im having a problem finding a set in general hydro or manual. The local junkyards around her only keep to 90 and newer. Ive been searching like a dog. I think i am going to modify the pedal out of the 99 donor to work.

Im sure some cutting, welding, and a dash of redneck engineering will get the job done.
