Got a few ?s about my 87's cruise control
« on: May 12, 2002, 03:13:00 PM »
It doesn't work.  The IGN fuse is 20 AMP and good and I don't have any vacuum leaks.  Is it a broken wire on the harness?  Is it the swtich in the tree gone?  Is it the vacuum actuator itself?  Any other possibilities or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

(And don't buy a Haynes manual for info on CC, there is none.)

Check the drop-out switch on the brake pedal, mine has 2 switches one for stoplights, one for cruise. Also check the speed sensor leads behind the speedometer. Theres a photo - optic proximity sensor behind the speedometer. the wires are tiny.  The Helm shop manuals are great and include actual factory wiring diagrams as well as factory diagnostics. If you get one, you won't need any more help.

Yes, check the wire that runs under the dash, I have seen it unplugged on many cars & trucks.

Did you get it working.
I'm having the same problem, and I'm looking for some direction.
Are there not any web sites that have tech info and wiring diagrams.
