The Holley metal heat shields could also help

You may wind up with an electric fuel
Pump at the tank and a restricted return line
To keep the fuel cool

The ethanol garbage that the fedgov puts in the gasoline is most likely the problem
But it's really hard to find gas without that crap in it

Supposedly there's a station in my town that still sells E0 gas.  I might have to check it out next time I'm running low.

piston engine planes are still burning old school leaded gasoline
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avgas
and at least up here in Canada if you want pure gas with no ethanol bs than you have to pony up for premium (91 octane) and it's usually at least $0.50 more per liter than regular (3.8 liters per 1 US gallon) sometimes more

never heard of ethanol being illegal in aircraft although i could see it having issues with water content and freeze ups, all i know is that when the governments decided to mandate no more leaded gas they included a permanent exemption for aviation fuel

maybe im mistaken about it being illegal. thought i read that years ago but maybe it was something else or im combining the lead fuel with issues with ethanol

I know this thread is old, but since this seems to be a recurring topic, I figured I'd give an update on recent experience.  I put in a tank of ethanol-free gas, and it greatly reduced my hot start issue.  It's not completely cured, but I still had close to 1/4 tank of E10 when I filled up, so hopefully it will continue to improve if I keep using E0.

I've had my blazer since 88 and never had problems until 5 or so years ago.

My problem is more like  vapor lock after sitting the same approx 20 minutes.
Starts ok but stumbles shortly after with mild  acceleration and almost always on Heavy and WOT when hot.

Tried non E gas and helped but didn't cure that's it. Seems even the non E gas is still not the same as gas from years ago.

I added a fuel filter with the vapor 3rd port  just before the carb and routed the vapor line back to the tank thru the evap can line eliminating the can for testing.
Also leaving the gas cap loose to prevent pressurizing the tank from the return.

This seems to have cured the problem but too soon to tell.

Going to replace the tank sending unit with one 4 lines so I can use the vapor return and the evap can if I'm satisfied I've cured the problem.

Actually already have the unit to install as well as have already intalled the vapor return Line on the frame rail.
