speakers cutting in and out at high volumes

i recently bought new speakers for my 1985 c10 1/2 ton 305 v8 their peak wattage is 4k if i remember correctly and the cut in and out at high volumes and i cant figure out why plz help

Are these hooked up t pan amp? Either way you could be "clipping" the speakers. This would cause them to cut in and out at high volume.
