Thumpers are all about lope, not so much on the performance side of things. Why have a cam that sounds good, but runs like a dog? Go with a nice cam for performance, and take the lope you get with it. You'll be happier in the long run. My little ole 262 grind XE from Comp lopes fairly good for what it is, and will actually go when I jab on the long skinny pedal.
Call Comp Cam's tech line, give them your spec's, and tell them what you want the cam to do, and they'll tell you exactly what they have that will do the job. Great resource, and good guys that know their business. Once you see the spec's on the cam(s) they recommend, then start looking at the other manufacturers out there for something in the same range.
