Hey guys,

My carb is having some intermittent issues with high idle and kick down.

It idles so high that I believe the fluid coupling in the torque converter is causing my truck to stay in gear while i am attempting to break. This causes my rear end to slide around on the ice. Very dangerous.

I just ran a can of carb cleaner over the linkages and through the primary and secondary. It seems like it has helped slightly but not fixed my problem. Also, my throttle pedal tends to have a stick point.

Back off the fast idle screw and ensure the choke is working. Is there 12v at the choke coil? Is the choke coil opening?

At the same time I took those pictures, I actually did back off on the fast idle screw. I also backed the curb idle screw off a bit as well.

I will play with the choke tomorrow and check voltages as well. Thanks.

See if the throttle acts the same way when the engine is not running.
When the throttle shaft bores get worn, the shaft can stick badly when the airflow against the butterflys
is high while the engine is running. This puts a side load on the butterflys and throttle shaft.
Mine was so bad that it was virtually impossible to drive with a manual tranny.
I have not found an off the shelf bushing kit for those.
Edelbrock's suggestion was to get a new carb.
So I did...a Holley.....
