Emissions delete....heeeelllllppp
« on: September 10, 2016, 07:51:06 PM »
So I have a 1986 1 ton six pack with the 454. I want to remove the emissions and let this girl breathe but have no idea where to start. Any helpers? Thank you in advance.

Post pics of your engine compartment so we can see what you have.

The only six pack I have for a vehicle was the six pack manifold.....3 x 2 barrel carburetors. (plus beer)   LOL

The emission stuff isn't really hurting too much
A good tune on a dyno by a competent tuner will help a lot

Yes the 6 pack is the 3+3. Military supporter but unfortunately never served. I will get some pics here shortly.  Thank you.

If you strip all of that off, do yourself and others put a quality set of headers and carefully remove it.  A lot of that is NLA and worth $ to someone needing to meet emission compliance.  Without it, it won't pass the sniff test because of no catalytic convertors

But of course my friend.  Not a hacker. I hope this is my daughter's first car.  It's already very sentimental and with every mod it will be even more.  Thought that was the wiper motor.  Gotta rewire.

All of the A.I.R. system components including the air pumps, plumbing and exhaust manifolds will certainly clean things up but as said, tag it and bag it. Those parts are worth hanging onto for if you ever sell the truck. Good quality exhaust is a great place to start spending your money.
