Neutral safety switch
« on: May 20, 2020, 04:57:32 PM »

Hey all, attached is a picture of where someone has jumped my neutral safety switch and done away with it. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get the switch to return it back to stock. My truck is an a/c truck and I can’t find them anywhere.

Has anyone made their own with a brake switch or something similar?

Thanks, but I think that is for an automatic transmission. I am talking about the switch that does not allow you to start the vehicle without the clutch pedal depressed. I will never start it in gear without the clutch down but it is nice if someone that doesn't know wouldn't be able to start it without having the clutch pedal down.

I have a couple of pictures. You need to do a web search. Claasic Chevy Truck Parts may have what you want and there are other places and a store on this forum. If one of these are good, you can do a search with the part number.

Thanks mike. The top picture looks close to what I would want. The bottom picture is on my other 84, a non a/c non cruise control truck.

Here’s another picture. Those two empty holes are where what I am calling the neutral safety switch and a cruise control shutoff should go (I think). The cruise control shutoff is still there just not in its place, but the neutral safety switch is completely gone.

Our other 84 truck without a/c or cruise has a completely different setup which leads me to hope it’s your top picture for this truck.
