Just bought an 85 Silverado with a 350 and a 6 inch rough country lift. (Pics to come soon) it has 35 inch swampers! I absolutely love this truck! Its my first carbureted truck also. The truck has a few aftermarket upgrades, so my question is about how much HP am I putting out. I know it has the complete accel ignition system, holley high rise aluminum intake. Edelbrock 4 barrel carb, long tube headers (not sure what kind), and dual 40 series flow masters, and an edelbrock air cleaner. Any input will be appreciated. Also...any other bolt on mod suggestions?

HP if stock isn't going to be much.  Without knowing what has been done internally to the engine will also affect the numbers.  Enjoy your purchase and welcome to the site from NW Indiana...

Given the upgrades you listed, if nothing has been done to the internals of the engine, you might be pushing 230-240HP at the crank.  Torque is where it's really at with these engines, with a cam swap you could be putting out around 400ft-lbs of torque but still only around 250HP

If your truck came with the usual snorkel type air cleaner that Edelbrock air cleaner may be costing you horsepower.

The factory air cleaner pulls in cool air from outside whereas the Edelbrock, if it is like the one I have on my '77, only gets hot air from inside the engine compartment.

The reason I run the Edelbrock is because my '77 was previously a sled puller. The engine/exhaust/radiator didn't have time to heat up before I hooked to the sled. And another benefit I had was no inner fenders.......not really practical for a street driven truck.

Thanks a lot for the info/replies everybody. Pic to come very soon. I actually thought about the air cleaner. This is my first carbureted truck so its a little different for me. I actually thought about a ram air setup. Anyone else tried this? Also I'm pretty sure the motor isn't original because the block is painted bright orange...but the previous owner knew nothing about it. Pics to come very soon!
