All you need is the carrier if you wanna keep your existing gear ratio

Pugsy, Are you happy with the gear ratio you have? As Vile said "all you need is the carrier". You can buy the posi carrier for your series gear, check the backlash, disassemble, swap the ring onto posi carrier, install, shim as needed to achieve the same backlash you had when you started (assuming it was not making noise & was within specs) all done, good to go! Depending on what you after, another way to go would be to use a Lock Rite unit (I think they got bought out by Richmond) in you existing open carrier. They can work fairly well for "daily driver". I helped a friend install one of the early ones in a daily driver truck many years ago, it was a "wheel that slips gets the grip" idea. It worked fairly well in the snow, ect. They later came out with a more traditional "posi" type unit. Good Luck, Lorne

I'm happy with the 3.40  I have now.
What's a carrier worth roughly?
