Interesting.  My ' 73 also had that odd auxiliary tank.  Always thought it was something done in someone's garage.  I don't believe that switching valve was OE, though.  I'd be willing to bet that if you could see the driver's side floorboard beside the seat, you'd see the manual vent and fuel valves that mine had.  Our '72 CST had it too.  Incredibly nice truck, in any case.

Yeah not done "at the factory" as he says. It's a dealer add on. Nice truck but that tailgate is misaligned pretty bad. Mostly all original is a nice find and rarity these days.

I would agree it's really clean, but wonder why the engine paint suffered so badly? Even the pan looks shot out.

And the diff looks like it has leaked for 26K miles, coated front to back.

Did he mention a price? What do you think he's going to ask? What do you think it's worth?

I read $30k somewhere in the comments section...

Probably still cheaper than a new silverado 2500:   i priced one out at the chevy site, because i'm into that kind of thing.   $44.4K    Totally stripper "Work Truck" trim with 6.6 engine---the only gas engine you can get w/ a 2500.

As far as the paint peeling on the valve covers, i can see that happening if the paint quality wasn't that great.  Even with only 20K miles, it still has seen quite a few heat cycles.   Also, this is Iowa?   So, i would imagine some moisture in the air and the cold etc.?
