suicide doors on stock hinges

i remember reading in a streettrucks mag that it's better (and cheaper) to use the stock hinges when suiciding doors, because they have that stock look of tucking inside instead of swinging out. is it possible to do this with our hinges? any places on the internet have a how to?

Not going to be possible with the 73-87 hinges.  They mount perpendicular to the door at the front (like and L ) where they need to mount parallel.  I have heard Jeep Cherokee hinges work well for this application though.

i guess i'll have to buy the kit then  

i could use the same striker/latches though right? just move the passenger assembly to the drivers, vice versa? (with some slight modification to hold the striker of course)

Yeah, you could probably use the stock pieces by swapping them.  Or you could use some Bear claw latches.

it's possible to use cherokee hinges on a truck? i think that would look alot cleaner than the kits

I haven't looked into it, but I guess anything is possible with time and ingenuity.
