Thanks.
This truck was owned since new by a rich guy who didnt need it or use it. Truck has spent all of its life parked inside. Has no miles on it and is all original.
Where I live its all gravel roads so I have to leave the running boards on it.
Bought it last fall and drove it home and parked it. Going to wait until next summer when the roads get good to drive it.
Here is a pic of my 81
Everything on this truck is new or rebuilt except the body. 350,th350,dana60, 14boltFF, 4.10s. 5.5"rear suspension lift,4"fromt HD suspension lift,33"tires.
The cap is coming off. Just put it on there because I had no other place to put it. Cows would wreck it on the ground. Cap doesnt work well on gravel roads. Bed of truck fills up with dust.Traded the cap for some hay, just waiting until it warms up to take it off.
Cant make up my mind with what to do with the box. Either replace it or go with a steel deck?

How much did you pay for it(if you don't mind me asking)?  I would think he'd want a lot for it since it was barely used.  It looks real good too.

Haha You guys will think im crazy if I tell you. In Canada these trucks apparently sell much higher than what they do in the States. I paid $5000 for the 87 and as far as im concerned I stole it. I know everybody on these forums think these trucks should sell for half of that and maybe they do in your area but not up here.
Vehicles just cost more up here regardless if they are new or old.

I think you got a pretty good deal.  I ended up paying $4000 for my truck without a motor and with tons of problems.  Sometimes I get mad when I think about how much more stuff I could have bought if I had just bought a $1000 rolling chassis instead.

Oh man $5000 was nothing for that 87. That 81 4x4 in the other picture was a high mileage half ton that I paid $4000 for originally but gosh the money I have since sunk into that truck is crazy. Seriousely I have a fortune in it and I still havnt done the body so it just looks like a beater.
It costs big money to build one of these trucks. My problem is that I keep track of every cent and it sure adds up.
The way I look at it is the last time I priced new trucks a new GMC 4x4 one ton gas truck it costs $50,000. As long as I stay under that im a head Hahaha.

Well I just bought some farm land and im putting a house on to it.Its my first place so money is extremely tight. Had to sell the 87 1/2 ton to make it work. Where im currently living its pretty remote and the roads are bad so its tough to sell a vehicle so I took the 87 to a car dealership in town.
Just to let you guys know what these old trucks sell for in Alberta, the dealer gave me $5500 for it on the spot and he currently has it for sale at $7900.

I don't know about prices up there, but the truck sounds like quite a find.  Congrats!

The truck had about 150,000KM whick I think is about 90,000 miles. Thats extremely low mileage for one of these trucks in my area.
If it would have been 4x4 or 3/4 ton or one ton it would have been worth way more. Haha Heck I would have kept it.
