Big ol' truck
« on: March 15, 2008, 12:39:37 PM »
Well, here's my truck. It's mostly done. I got a few things left to do with the steering and it needs gears and lockers. I plan on getting a little freshness into the motor and after that I should be pretty much done. A little bit of wiring and some light bulbs and we're good. Right now, it's got a 355/400/208 combo with a 14 bolt with disc brakes in the rear and the stock Dana 44 in front. A 12" Superlift completes the suspension and the crappy wheels are wrapped in 40" Grand prix POS tires. I'm planning on 5.13 gears to get about back to the factory ratio. A Detroit Locker at each end will keep all four spinning in unison. I just have to worry about keeping the shiny side up.

I don't think it's gonna fit in the garage!  :D

No, it doesn't fit in the garage. The lip of the door hits the windshield just under the rear view mirror. If I deflate the tires I can get it almost all the way in. ;D

Nice Truck  Had to air down the Zuk to make it fit.  I built a bigger shop to save the air compressor.  <grirn>

I actually bought the truck pretty much the way it is. The lift is by Superlift, though. I added a few of my own touches to it, but it pretty much came like that. I also made plans to take one of the Alpine Type R 12s out of my Cavalier and put it behind the seat. But here's the kicker, you'll never guess how much I paid for it...

When I first built mine it wouldn't come out of the garage we did it in so I had a set of rims (no tires) rolled it outside and put the tires on in the driveway. Mna the sure was fun back in the day about 14 years ago when I first did it now it has a nice size garage to drive it in and out of. Cool thruck though.

Alright, I only paid two grand for it. I thought it was a heck of a deal. I totaled up all the aftermarket parts it has on it and the total was over $7000. I just got word yesterday that I could have a 305 for the Cavalier if I want it. I don't know though. I want an LS1 ;D I also plan on buying a C20 to build some kind of street truck. Thanks for the comments, everybody. Good luck on all your projects, too.
