Qudrajet to edelbrock help!
« on: September 22, 2016, 11:30:08 PM »
I'm looking on what  to expect when goin to edelbrock from a quadrajet

I happen to have a edelbrock 1400 I wanted to knw if it will perform better than a stock Rochester quadrajet and I knw the common one is a 1406 but this one I have is a 1400 what's the difference? And is it worth the swap?

How about a little more detail on what you currently have? Engine, trans etc?

It'll work but you will need the correct base gasket or adapter depending on your intake manifold. The 1400 should have the bowl vent like the Carters had. You will probably need a different return spring bracket and or modify your throttle cable bracket. You will need the correct post stud for the TV cable. I recommend an inline fuel filter as well you may need a different length air cleaner stud or spacer depending on your air cleaner base and height.

Reliably, the 1st edelbrock carburetor I bought, It was my senior year in high school
12yrs later I bought another just because the other 1 had age so bad meaning looks wise and the new 1 runs even better. Very pleased

Ok so finally got around to swap out the quadrajet
Just had a clearance issues so had to remove the egr valve
I'm thinking I can just block it off for now am I right?
Also was wondering if my tv cable goin to be fine at the angle that it's in?

You can block off the EGR or just use a carb spacer. An adjustable throttle cable/tv cable bracket will allow you to dial it in just right.

Would that work where I have it
I believe is the hole for the return spring that's why is at an angle a bit
Also I do have a spacer since I'm running stock manifold still wouldn't clear the egr valve I'll just be blocking it off tho

Did some more googling and YouTube and I came across this bracket to correct the geometry on the tv cable

Is this the best way to go??
And also would I still need the adjustable bracket that mounts to manifold?
Thanks for the help just worried about my transmission Dnt want to mess it up!

I know this is an old post, but did you ever get this solved? I am currently going through the same thing and information is very hard to come across.

The post stud can be flipped around to the inside.

I spent big money to get the edelbrock tv cable situation perfect. Bow tie overdrives is the easiest and best way. My 700r4 shifts perfectly now.
